The potent imagery of Georg Trakl

Trakl was a hardcore German-language poet and one of the original longhairs.

Perhaps, the only pharmacist-poet ... yet, poetry was his drug of choice...

Trakl took an overdose at age 27, while caring for the wounded of WW1...

One may conjecture that his love of poetry may have been the reason for his unfortunate demise...

War imagery is surely abhorrent enough, yet Trakl was compelled to qualify these horrors poetically...

This surely intensified the tragedy which he experienced and may have been the catalyst for his overdose.

His poetic heroics are unmatched...
